Today’s photovoltaic (PV) solar panels convert only 12 to 18% of the sun’s energy into

electricity. That means that over 80% of the energy hitting a PV panel is currently lost as waste

heat.

Adding SunDrum Solar’s SDM100 collectors to your PV installation allows you to capture up to

70% of the sun’s energy and deliver it in the form of both electricity and hot water. About two

thirds of that energy is delivered in the form of hot water or thermal energy and one third in the

form of electrical energy.

SunDrum Solar’s SDM100 collectors also improve the PV panel’s electrical performance by

cooling the panel. A typical PV panel electrical efficiency will improve as much as 10% (i.e. 16%

to 17.6%) when installed with an SDM100 collector.

A SunDrum total energy system delivers three times more energy per square foot than a

traditional PV panel solution. SunDrum Solar’s innovative SDM100 collector family captures

twice the energy of traditional PV panels in the form of hot water. Each SDM100 collector also

improves the PV panel’s efficiency by up to 10%. That means that every PV panel installed with

a SunDrum collector will deliver up to 10% more electricity.

Commercial buildings typically consume about 8% of their energy needs in the form of hot

water service. An average US residence consumes about 20% of their annual energy needs in

the form of domestic hot water service. According to US Government sources, owners of

commercial and residential buildings spend ~$32 billion a year on hot water service.”

residential installations result in an annual CO2 emissions reduction of approximately 10,000
