Today’s photovoltaic (PV) solar panels convert only 12-18% of the sun’s energy into electricity.  That means that over 80% of the energy hitting a PV panel is currently lost as wasted heat.   SunDrum® Solar collectors capture this wasted heat from solar panels and turns it into hot water for your home or business.  The SunDrum® Solar SDM100 solution delivers an amazing 60-70% of the sun’s energy vs. 15-20% with solar panels alone.


By utilizing SunDrum’s SDM100 collectors along with your PV installation, you will capture up to 70% of the sun’s energy and deliver it in the form of both electricity and hot water.  Approximately 2/3 of that energy is delivered in the form of hot water or thermal energy and 1/3 in the form of electrical energy.  SunDrum SDM100 collectors also improve the PV panel’s electrical performance by cooling the panel.   A typical PV panel’s electrical efficiency will improve as much as 10% (ie. 16% - 17.6%) when installed with an SDM100 collector.
